"An elderly Singaporean woman looks at a large portrait of Singapore's founding father in a history museum in this 2003 file photo. Mr Lee, who turns 85 on Tuesday, is revered as a mythic figure by elder Singaporeans but to the younger generations, he is a familiar but mysterious relic whose accomplishments they take for granted."

I have no choice but to somehow agree with the last part of the statement by MSN news. Haha! It's so straightforwardly piercing yet true!
We, the younger generations, surely hadn't gone thru the hardships and all that the post-65ers have been thru together with MM Lee; hence we tend to be a tad too complacent and ignorant about certain political and diplomatic issues.
We take peace and harmony for granted, occasionally the racist remarks about each other, and the many displeasing government policies, e.g: GST hike, public transport fare hike, cab surcharges hike, baby bonus but no suitable spouse to marry, or maybe our PAP should start giving us singles some marriage bonus (apparently, that's what we buddies have discussed over Shi Yun's wedding dinner last night ;p). LOL!
It's MM Lee's 85th birthday, so well great job dude! You have indeed done a marvellously awesome job in Singapore for the past 43 years and counting. We will try harder to love you and your -ahem- policies. Till then, stay healthy and fit ya ;p Cheers to you, Mr MM Lee!
