Day 1: (times stated in SG time)
6pm: We were finally leaving Singapore for our long-awaited shopping holiday to Bangkok, and I was happier that we were gonna depart from Changi's Terminal 1 instead of Budget Terminal :D
Cher Hao drove me to the airport and we had dinner together with Joan. Soon we have to go and excitedly waited for our gate to open :)
7.20pm: Waiting at Gate D34.... for 50 minutes, including a 40 minutes flight delay and controlling my pee bcos I thought the plane was gonna take off on time -.-!
8.20pm: The plane during take-off, it was literally tilting. Cool!
On a side note, it is funny that I study aerodynamics and everything about the aircraft; but still nothing beats sitting in it and experiencing the entire flight :D I just love aeroplanes (:
8.25pm: 2 crazy girls in the plane, bored due to lack of in-flight entertainment. Zzzzzz!
10.30pm: Landed at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport, Terminal 1 (International flights). Off to clear customs and get baggages and get a prepaid local SIM card.
11pm: Buy a local prepaid SIM card, for easy contact =)
11.30pm: Reached First House Hotel in a cab for 400 baht (S$17) =)
Almost MN: Check-in paperwork took forever to do and finally, we are in Room 1505!
The TV, dresser table, wardrobe and way to the bathroom.
2 single beds and sufficient space to move around... and place our luggages and shopping bags, for the entire week :)
Day 2: (times stated in BKK time - 1h behind SG)
9am: Ventured into the market area and the back alleyways of our hotel, straight after breakfast. All ready to start our shopping spree and see what great (and cheap) stuff they got that SG lacks of.
Their shops are packed to the max with stocks of clothes and all.
They carry many bagloads of stock like that masked dude in the pic above. Looks like businesses there are indeed enjoying reaping in big profits!
Mobile street stalls, selling food and drinks, fruits and juice.
More stalls selling cheap cheap cheap clothes!
10am: Off-peak morning traffic. Lotsa cabs and tuk-tuk readily available anytime.
Off to shopping at Platinum City Complex and Fashion Mall....
Bought this cute teddy bear bag for only 200 baht (S$8.50)!
1pm: Headed down to the famous Siam shopping belt, by foot. Walked for many kilometres, under the scorching hot sun and polluted air, next to traffic roads bustling with many many vehicles.
Yes, the sun is so powerful, I had to wear the cap and shades, put sunblock and moisturiser, to prevent myself from looking more like the locals there -.-
Joan is better, did all I did but still took out that all-powerful umbrella. At least that's what Rihanna always suggest right. Ha! I had mine but just lazy to open it up.
Still walking.... Dots!
This beautiful building in the middle of all sorts of ugly ones. I think it is called the Interchange, somewhere further downtown. It holds the big shopping brands and has offices in it too.
Old-school buses. Crowded and squeezy.
We took all modes of transport there except their public bus. Din wanna be set on fire by the Reds there, and we couldn't read the Thai signages on the buses either. Walking is more reliable.
1.30pm: Finally reached the beginning of Siam shopping belt! It was tough, shopping by foot -.-
Interesting finds there:
1. The Thais there are totally into the Korean and Taiwanese craze now, lagging behind SG by 2 and 5 years respectively, at least.
Just look at their many catalogue books and lil merchandise, full of Taiwanese and Korean actors and singers.
Even Joan is shocked till her jaws dropped! LOL!
2. They can buy their school uniforms in shopping centres, unlike SG's MOE schools, only bought in schools. They even have cool names for their uniform shops. WTH!
Buy school uniforms, macham in paradise, literally sia!
3. Nail art for hands and toes, only 450 baht (S$15)!
Includes a pink crystal on each big toe :D
4pm: Lunch time! We shopped till we forgot about our stomachs. Haha!
Most of the foodcourts in Bangkok used the cashless system there, by using coupons to purchase food. More hygienic, more honesty involved?
The food sold there are almost like what SG's kopitiams would have.
Thank God the Thais love to eat pork, they spell that as pock =) That's one good reason why Thailand is better than Malaysia.
Their mixed rice was so-so only. 40 baht (S$1.70) for 2 veg and 1 meat. Haha! Milk tea - 15 baht (S$0.60).
Their supermarts are bigger than SG's. So much more food to see and buy and eat. Much cheaper to get them too.
Go toilet pee also need to pay 2 baht (8 cents). Some shopping centres need to pay 5 baht (20 cents).
Thais are so environment-conscious now, even their toilets remind you to not use so much toilet paper. Haha!
6.45pm: Slacked at Starbucks MBK, to rest our aching legs from the mega shopping we did the whole day. LOL!
7.30pm: Decided to catch a movie, 3D animated movie in fact.
Monsters VS Aliens! Awesome stuff ok~!
This cute lil panda stature was shaking the popcorn and advertised that green tea bottle. Joan liked it alot =) Pity it was life-sized. LOL!
Sorry for the unglamness as I eat popcorn. It tastes much much better than GV or Shaw, sadly. Haha!
Their theatre seats can auto recline when you lean backwards =) The 3D effects was awesome too! GV should just die lah.

9.45pm: Takeaway dinner at KFC. Everything else is closed -.-
The menu was limited but their original flavoured chicken tasted quite good =) Spicy out of stock. Got the buddy set for 230 baht (S$10), I think. Not too bad, filling and yummy. KFC rocks, even in Thailand!
10pm: Took the tuk-tuk back to hotel for 100 baht (S$4.30). Quite steep considering the distance was not very far away. Darn.
We were happy to arrive back to the hotel in one piece, bcos the driver rides super recklessly and the gust of wind that blows past us always blew our caps off too. Haha!
Tired after a full day of shopping action. Feeling so happy over the loot already. More to come in the next 2 days =) Heehee~!
